Xerox Phaser 4500 MICR-Enhanced Laser Printer Solution From ACOM Sets Class Speed, Affordability Standards
LONG BEACH, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 2, 2004 -- ACOM Solutions, Inc., the leader in payment and back office document optimization solutions, today introduced its new Xerox Phaser(R) 4500 MICR-Enhanced Laser Printer Solution from ACOM, an economical multi-purpose printer that can generate secure MICR laser checks and conventional back office documents at up to 36 pages-per-minute -- fastest in its price category -- it was announced by Gregory T. Church, vice president of marketing and communications.
The network-enabled MICR-enhanced Xerox Phaser 4500 laser printer is available in MICR-only (Model One) and Tri-mode (Model Two) versions. Model One features a MICR toner sensor that prevents the unit from operating unless the proper MICR toner is installed; Model Two allows the user to select "MICR On" for secure MICR checks and documents, "MICR Off" for conventional document printing or "Printer Off," which powers the unit down and disables all printing capabilities. List price for Model 1 is $3,495; Model 2, $3,795. ACOM's internally engineered Phaser 4500 MICR toner carries a single unit price of $495, and yields 18,000 pages per cartridge at five percent coverage and 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution.

With ACOM's modifications, the new MICR laser printer solution is ANSI and ABA compliant, and with its array of security enhancements and options it also supports company programs for Sarbanes-Oxley fiscal security compliance. Security options include Secure-A-Font(TM), a removable PCMCIA card that stores and downloads the MICR font, signatures and logos, or a password-protected internal hard disk drive for storing fonts, macros and for releasing print jobs via a password panel on the front of the unit. Use of these features in conjunction with ACOM's blank security check stock and powerful software can reduce the risk of check fraud significantly.
The MICR-enhanced Xerox Phaser 4500 features a first-page-out speed of eight seconds and a duty cycle of 150,000 pages per month. It supports the PCL5e, PCL6 and Adobe PostScript 3 printer languages with parallel, Ethernet, and USB bus connectivity. The printer is standard with dual trays, offering input/output of 700/500 sheets standard and a maximum of 1800/1000 sheets. Delivery is immediate.
