Dalet Digital Media systems and NetApp have entered into a partnership to provide a digital asset management and archiving solution. The solution is certified to work with NetApp’s Data ONTAP GX operating system.
Dalet Digital Media Systems is a developer of software solutions that facilitate the management of audio and video assets for broadcast, entertainment, government, education, corporations and non-profit organizations. NetApp is a provider of storage and data management solutions help organizations around the world store, manage, protect, and retain valuable data.
The scalable NetApp Data ONTAP GX operating system is integrates NetApp FAS (Fabric Attached Storage) systems into a multi-node, high-performance system.
Multi-site facility providers can achieve high performance using this solution by increasing efficiency and speeding up access to high-quality content.
Intense competition among enterprise level broadcast customers is forcing companies to seek out higher-quality services which in turn increase the stress on technical requirements to accommodate new alternatives. Dalet and NetApp have, since 2006, been providing services together and have formulated ways to offer customers a content management system capable of meeting throughput requirements for the most demanding production facilities, scaling up to 6PB seamlessly.
An open file-based architecture means customers can choose among applications on any platform, knowing files will be accessible.
NetApp and Dalet said that customers in the broadcast, Internet streaming, mobile distribution and archiving industries are seeking easy throughput, efficient product delivery pipeline and decrease in time to deliver high-quality content. They thus need to adopt an IT solutions-based approach.
"Dalet is truly excited about the new potential that Data ONTAP GX provides to broadcasters," said St phane Schlayen, Chief Operating Officer of Dalet S.A. "The increased performance and bandwidth levels now available truly empower the implementation of file-based workflows in both SD and HD environments, across both small- and large-scale operations."
"NetApp is pleased that Dalet has certified Data ONTAP GX for its digital content management systems," said Bill Olson, vice president of Worldwide Industry Verticals at NetApp. "The continued partnership and innovation from our two companies will not only help our customers create better media content faster, but also achieve better business results with simplified, tested interoperability."
