TMCnet Contributing Editor

Jaman has announced that they are unveiling a new movie streaming service through which HD quality movies can be viewed for free, directly on the web browser without the need to download them. Jaman is launching streaming with 100 ad-supported titles from its collection of more than 3000 independent and international films.

Jaman website is an entertainment site on the Internet delivering high-definition films to a growing online community of fans and filmmakers. Viewers can browse and select from Jaman’s library of thousands of unique films and then view these movies on their PCs, Macs, televisions and home-set-top boxes.

"This development changes the marketplace for long-form content," said Gaurav Dhillon, Jaman founder and CEO. "By offering a free streaming media service along with our current rental and ownership download options, we are anticipating the future of digital cinema. With streaming, we provide our community with a quality viewing experience that is free and for our advertisers, we deliver a unique audience and premium and targeted placement opportunities."

Films such as “Cool,” from award-winning director Theo van Gogh, the Sundance 2008 Audience (News - Alert) Award winner “Shake Hands with the Devil,” mockumentary “My Date with Drew,” as well as classics like “Charade,” with Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant, and Indian films “Dharavi” and “Main Zinda Hoon,” are among the films now available. New movies will continue to be added for streaming.

The Jaman community has two options placed before them. They can either download the High definition movies for a price of US $1.99 or watch them free with advertisements.

The service can also be seen as an efficient way for combating piracy by providing HD content for free. A large online audience can be reached across US and Europe and also from the underserved places like the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) countries.

The availability of free streaming movies opens new emerging markets and reinforces Jaman's position as the leading online destination for global and independent cinema. The latest additions to browsers like cross platform browser capability that works on PCs, Macs and Linux systems, enable users to begin watching movies within a matter of seconds. Jaman's technology automatically adjusts to provide a video stream customized to a viewers' bandwidth conditions.

Jaman has recently announced content partnerships with leading studios and distributors Arts Alliance America, BBC Worldwide America and Fortissimo Films. For more information please visit www.jaman.com
