Sorrento Networks, a global optical access solutions provider, today announced it acquired the assets of Redfern Broadband (

Alert) Networks (RBN) RBN, in Australia. Under the terms of the agreement, Sorrento will acquire all assets of RBN which includes products, customer contracts, channel partner relationships, test equipment and more. However, financial details are yet to disclose.
The acquisition of RBN assets expanded Sorrento’s metro optical access product portfolio to solve the growing bandwidth need of clients. With RBN GigaEdge product suite purchase, Sorrento now has a cost effective solution for carriers to extend their fiber-based services closer to their customers. Products of RBN is designed to help the telecommunications carriers and enterprises will help increase the bandwidth of their existing networks and lower the cost of providing next-generation broadband services.

The acquisition of RBN's proven optical technology strengthens our competitive edge."
RBN's GigaEdge Optical Services Provisioning Platforms (OSPP) combines various services of the network which solve high-capacity optical upgrade needs of customers. With this acquisition Sorrento will gain RBN's complete product portfolio, including the GigaEdge 2300, 6000 and 8200 series, as well as the GigaCraft 1200. Sorrento will further enhance its global reach through acquired channel relationships and service provider customers. It will gain from RBN's strategic partners including companies such as Embarq and Ericsson (
