Macrovision Announces Technology Acquisition from ThoughtWorthy Media

Macrovision Solutions has announced the acquisition of certain website and technology assets from ThoughtWorthy Media. Gemstar-TV Guide International had previously entered into this transaction and executed it in January 2008.
 
ThoughtWorthy Media website will now be the part of TVGuide.com, which is an important source for entertainment news and information. ThoughtWorthy Media says the company is looking forward to working with Macrovision to integrate its technology into its network of online properties.

 
By enabling businesses to protect, enhance and distribute digital goods to consumers across multiple channels, Macrovision Solutions provides the digital home entertainment experience. The Macrovision Solutions technologies are deployed by companies in the entertainment, consumer electronics, cable and satellite, and online distribution markets to solve industry-specific challenges and bring greater value to their customers.
 
With the help of ThoughtWorthy's technology platform, TV viewers can identify, research, and purchase online the music, products and advertising they view on television. The company is planning to make use of the data across its platforms including online and mobile.
 
The company had recently launched its Online Video Guide widget, which enables partners and consumers to add customized video search and continuously-updated video feeds to any website. The syndicated widget is an extension of TVGuide.com’s Online Video Guide (video.tvguide.com), a video search engine that allows users to discover and watch the latest TV, music, celebrity and news videos.
 
TVGuide.com in the past year has become one of the fastest-growing, most innovative entertainment destinations online, fueled by new products, expanded editorial coverage, and a flexible syndication platform. May unique users were 12.1 million (a 58 percent annual increase), including 640,000 monthly unique users of its Online Video Guide (a 205 percent annual increase).
