RCN just completed the build of a fiber ring encompassing more than 10 miles located in downtown Chicago to augment the existing 538-mile fiber network the company already has in the area. This gives RCN a robust footprint and capabilities in the heart of the city.

RCN’s complete set of products is now available in the Chicago market, ranging from Metro Ethernet to SONET and Wavelength services, IP

transit, Colocation and Network Management Services. With this expansion, RCN will add an additional 100 Gigabits of overall network capacity in a core growth market.
“With approximately 80 buildings lit, including major meeting points for the financial services industry and service provider points of presence, RCN Metro is offering highly-reliable services deployed over a network that is diverse from other carriers’ networks,” said Lorin Dorco, Chicago regional director for RCN Metro. “Our services are backed by an exceptional operational infrastructure and customer-focused support teams.”
In March, RCN Metro completed its Philadelphia build and launched its fiber ring, encompassing more than 3,000 fiber miles, in Center City, Philadelphia, giving the business expanded capabilities to meet growing customer demand.
