TransCare Makes the Rounds with TeleNav Track
TMCnet Contributing Editor

Improving responsiveness and driver communication with GPS tracking and navigation service, TransCare, the largest ambulance provider in the northeast region of the US is using TeleNav (News - Alert) Track, a GPS-enabled Mobile Resource Management (MRM) service. Transcare is looking to streamline its dispatch operations and improve response times with its use of TeleNav Track.

Transcare says the company witnessed immediate improvements after deploying TeleNav Track. Enabling dispatchers to dispatch the closest vehicle when calls arrived, the solution showed them exact locations of all ambulances. While doing this, the company contributed to its bottom line as it could cut average response times and ensure vehicles were being used effectively. Also, TransCare was able to eliminate its one-way communication pagers in favor of mobile phones that offer two-way communication between vehicles and the back office. So, based on the location of the drivers, this advancement allows management to communicate vital transport information.

TransCare offers a wide range of medical transportation solutions which includes emergency ambulance services and non-emergency paratransit services for the elderly and disabled. The company has more than 1,600 field employees and over 200 ambulances. Looking to allow management to easily locate and dispatch ambulances, as well as integrate within its existing dispatch system, TransCare began exploring GPS-based MRM solutions. The company chose to deploy TeleNav Track on over 200 Sprint (News - Alert) cell phones.

Apart from getting better response times, TeleNav Track’s extensive reporting capabilities have allowed TransCare to document its drivers’ activities. The company can use this information if an emergency or problem were to arise as the information supplied is time and date stamped.

“Improved responsiveness is one of the most valuable benefits a business owner can receive from deploying an MRM solution,” said Sal Dhanani, co-founder and senior director of marketing at TeleNav. “TeleNav Track gives managers a comprehensive view of mobile employees and equipment, allowing them to know where assets are located at a moment’s notice. This type of information is invaluable in industries where response time is key, and competition among businesses creates the need for exceptional customer service.”
