Mon.itor.Us' Free Web Monitoring Crosses 20 Million Checks per Day Milestone
TMCnet Contributing Editor

Monitis has announced that its free Web site monitoring service, Mon.itor.Us, has reached the 20 million hits per day mark for over 75,000 Web sites. Mon.itor.Us is a free of charge monitoring service working round the clock that evaluates the availability, performance and accessibility of Web sites, it also checks servers and networks so that issues can be recognized and thus prevented before they create critical web outages.

The services of Mon.itor.Us to web sites, mail servers and network devices are provided from external monitoring locations with inspections carried out are HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) based. Apart from HTTP based checks, other checks include, POP (Post Office Protocol), SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), TCP, UDP (News - Alert) , IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) and SIP/VoIP (Session Initiation Protocol/Voice over Internet Protocol) checks.
Monitis’ free Web site service carries out protocol checks on a daily 24-hour basis and on detection of any problems notifies webmasters either via email, instant messages or by SMS (Short Message Service). While the Mon.itor.Us dashboard has the capability to integrate real time web traffic reports with web performance metrics, it helps webmasters examine traffic and conversion issues that lead to slow page load time. Through such examination, webmasters can easily reach the root of the problem that may be either high server CPU (Central Processing Unit) consumption or low virtual memory.
“We are committed to provide more free services,” said Hovhannes Avoyan, chief executive officer and founder of Monitis, “Very soon we will launch a new and very impressive line of free specialized monitoring services. Webmasters and IT (Information Technology) specialists and even web entrepreneurs may find tons of useful services to improve IT infrastructure ROI (Return On Investments),” Avoyan added.
Web site monitoring is an important task considering the fact that for 100ms of page load latency Amazon loses out on 1 percent of its profits and the traffic on Google (News - Alert) engines drop by almost 20% when a page takes 500ms longer than normal to load. By tracing the cause of failure and slow page loads, Mon.itor.Us helps Web sites generate additional profits.
Apart from monitoring Web site performance and accessibility, Mon.itor.Us also provides numerous valuable benchmarks and industry performance reviews and shares information regarding reliable hosting providers, registrars, and ranks internet service providers.
