Webwag says it has launched the newer version of its Mobile Widget engine, the Webwag Mobile 2.0 (News - Alert). The company says that Webwag Mobile 2.0 aims at the convergence of the Web and the mobile Internet.

According to reports, Webwag is now available on hundreds of mobile Java phones, on the Web, on the iPhone, and shortly on Windows Mobile and BlackBerry (News - Alert).

Webwag, a publisher of mobile and Internet widget convergent solutions, helps users create a personalized home page with data feeds and web 2.0 services that are always accessible from any computer.

With this Webwag version users' data are automatically synchronized between their mobile phone and the Web. The same content is then offered on both media.

According to officials, the Webwag Mobile 2.0 also comes with a guided help for mobile Internet users in their selection of the services they are interested in. The most relevant widgets are then automatically added in function of the pre-selected user's interests' lists.

The company claims that the design team has put in more effort in the new design to provide their users an iPhone (News - Alert) like experience. More attention has been put on widgets too as users will now find abundant and also quality widgets from the Webwag site.

The officials say that two features are especially innovative and practical: My friends, my community: Users select their nine favourite contacts to phone them, send them a text message or a Widget, in just a few clicks without the need to leave Webwag Mobile; and Location-based content: By selecting their city, users receive relevant content such as weather forecasts and other local information. Other location-based services will soon be available.

"Webwag Mobile users launch our widget engine as often as 20 to 40 time a month. Nothing can stop the widget phenomenon now, as widgets can make Internet access, mobile or not, much easier. With its new mobile version, Webwag is overthrowing received ideas. Most users can now have access to rich and customized mobile Internet. Widgets for the stock exchange, route descriptions, the weather forecast or Sudoku, they all offer an easy and fast experience and make the Webwag Mobile 2.0 a unique application,"said Florent Pitoun, COO.
