Redcom and Cisco Provide Digital TV and Broadband Multimedia to Khabarovsk in Russia
Metro Multiservice Transport Network (MMTN) jointly developed by Cisco (

Alert) and Redcom, and based on Cisco technology, will be offering affordable access to high-definition TV, video on demand and other multimedia services to consumers in Russia.
The eastern region of Khabarovsk is served by Redcom, a telecommunications service provider in this region. It offers high speed broadband services leveraging its strong network backbone which is scalable and fault-tolerant besides being highly secure.
Redcom’s network has been spruced up due to consumer demand for enhanced telecommunication and multimedia services with high Quality of Service (QoS). Cisco’s Ethernet Fiber to the Home solution with Metro Ethernet technology has been used by Redcom as it can scale to specific requirements ensuring high availability of service.
Cisco Metro Ethernet solution provides a high-speed, multifunctional broadband network which supports several features and multimedia services from multichannel radio to multimedia communications, high-definition Internet Protocol television (IPTV (

Alert)) and video on demand. Redcom gains the ability to differentiate traffic, offer flexible billing options to customers, and expand bandwidth for meeting sudden increase in service demands owing to this solution.

Cisco Capital’s leasing program enabled Redcom to procure networking hardware from INLINE Technologies and complete its upgrading project within a year. The Metro Multiservice Transport Network enables Redcom to offer its customers high-speed broadband for enterprise and home users, virtual local area networks, Layer 3 virtual private networks, high-definition IPTV, and IP telephony.
Michael Chursin, Cisco manager for Russia’s Far East region emphasized that Cisco and Redcom have offered access to broadband services in line with global standards to consumers in the Khabarovsk region. Operational leasing of advanced hardware enables Redcom to offer its subscribers new high-quality services and flexible tariffs while raising the resilience and expanding the capacity of its network on demand, he added.
The MMTN developed jointly by Redcom and Cisco cater to more than 20,000 subscribers in the city of Khabarovsk and in the Khabarovsk region.
