Zhone's MALC Supports Excella's EFM and ADSL2+ Business Services
TMCnet Contributing Editor

Las Vegas-based Excella Communications has selected Zhone’s MALC to support the company’s EFM and high-speed DSL service expansion throughout Las Vegas and greater Nevada.

The company claims to be Las Vegas’ only 100 percent locally owned and operated fully integrated solutions-based telecommunications and network services provider. Excella recently installed the MALC with EFM and ADSL2+ line cards, and is now adding ADSL2+ bonding to its service portfolio.

Jason Koenders, COO for Excella Communications recognized that offering multiple services over one efficient platform provides a competitive advantage and a wide open growth path. He pointed out that as the only locally owned provider serving Las Vegas, operational efficiency and the ability to move fast provide a critical advantage.

According to Koenders, the MALC’s installation and training were fast and intuitive and post install, a Zhone technician provided a personalized orientation showing the full range of advanced features now available to Excella. Zhone’s system enables the provisioning of voice, Active Ethernet, GPON, EFM, ADSL2+ and Wi-Fi services from one compact, power efficient platform with one integrated management system.

Steven Glapa, Zhone’s vice president of product management and marketing explained that the MALC ensures growing operators like Excella to quickly and easily expand service offerings while keeping total ownership costs extremely low.

Glapa added that the savings in equipment, power, field training and back office management enable the delivery of highly selective services both intelligently and affordably.

Zhone Technologies (News - Alert) specializes in single-platform delivery of voice, DSL, EFM, FTTx and wireless services. Last month, Ritter Communications selected Zhone's high-density multi-service access platform (MSAP) to support the company's network upgrade throughout their northern Arkansas coverage area. Ritter Communications provides voice, cable video and full service data networking to both business and residential customers.

According to Zhone, the company was chosen for their responsive and personalized customer service, robust platform, and support for future services.
