Ceragon (News - Alert) Networks, a provider of high-capacity wireless backhaul solutions has just signed a long-term equipment supply agreement with Tata Teleservices, a mobile operator in India and a global communications provider.

Tata Teleservices (News - Alert) is a private telecom service provider offering integrated telecom solutions to its customers under the Tata Indicom brand, and uses the CDMA1X technology for its wireless network. Tata Teleservices along with Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited operates in more than 6600 towns across 19 circles. In order to deliver both Ethernet and TDM traffic over their high capacity wireless networks, the company has signed this major agreement with Ceragon.

As per the terms of this agreement, Ceragon will provide Tata with its FibeAir solutions, including the FibeAir IP-10 system. The deal is also inclusive of Ceragon’s installation services.

"We have selected Ceragon's microwave solutions to provide high-capacity backhaul for our CDMA network. Once the solution is deployed, Tata Teleservices will be able to offer a wide range of data and multimedia applications on top of its voice centric package," said A. G Rao, chief technology officer at Tata Teleservices Limited.

"As we advance towards Next Generation Network and 3G services, wireless solutions from Ceragon will provide flexible and scalable answers for cost effective, future-proof high-capacity backhaul connectivity,” said Rao.

FibeAir IP-10 is Ceragon’s next generation carrier-grade wireless Ethernet solution. That combines IP and TDM networking and offers risk-free migration.

This migration-ready system supports native TDM, Native2 hybrid TDM/Ethernet and native Ethernet over a single platform. By adopting Ceragon's solution, Tata will be able upgrade its wireless backhaul capacity in the future and reach up to 500Mbps per radio channel.

"This agreement marks another success for Ceragon in the rapidly growing Asian market, and is a vote of confidence in both our existing and next generation solutions portfolio," said Ira Palti, president and chief executive officer at Ceragon.

According to Rao, this long term agreement with Ceragon will enable the company to roll out robust networks, and ensure its valued customers with the best quality service today and for years to come.
