Speed with AT&T U-verse Internet Service
TMCnet Channel Editor

In the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, after learning that Mr. Wonka had geese that could lay golden eggs, Veruca broke into song and dance demanding all that she wanted, “I want the world / I want the whole world / I want to lock it all up in my pocket / It's my bar of chocolate / Give it to me / Now!”

We all, so it would seem, want everything now. Taking the idea from another movie, AT&T (News - Alert) feels the need, “The need for speed!”

The 18 megabit per second links will be offered for $65 a month, with a TV plan.  Named, AT&T U-verseSM High Speed Internet Max 18, the service will be available on Nov. 9th in Houston, Detroit, San Francisco, Indianapolis, St. Louis and Sacramento, AT&T said. Currently, AT&T offers a ten megabit per second Internet connection for $55.

"With our new Max 18 service, customers get another way to stay connected faster," said Ralph de la Vega, chief executive officer of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. "AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet offers fast speeds, at home and on the go with free Wi-Fi, and as part of an integrated quad-play bundle. Max 18 is another way we're using our U-verse network to provide customers with more choices and innovative services."

Moreover, all U-verse Internet customers will gain access to AT&T’s Wi-Fi network, at no extra cost, at more than 17,000 AT&T Wi-FiSM hot spots. Wireless home networking is also included.
