Actiontec Electronics has introduced a new line of triple play VDSL2/ADSL2+ Universal DSL Wireless Gateways that offers throughput speeds up to 100 Mbps upstream and downstream over existing copper access lines.
This new line has been designed to “fuel” the next generation of high-speed data, high definition television (HDTV) and voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), according to company officials.
With the Universal DSL Gateway (

Broadcom PhyR is based on physical layer re-transmission technology (PMS-TC) that enables carriers and equipment providers to improve voice, data and video services to their customers.
Officials said that PhyR technology can improve impulse noise resilience and also service reach. This enables carriers to improve IPTV and high-speed data services, extend their network service area. Also, officials said, they can deliver triple play services to more subscribers.
Into a device, the Universal Gateway integrates ADSL2+/VDSL/VDSL2 modem, 4 port Ethernet switch, 802.11b/g/n wireless router, and firewall. Officials said this integration reduces clutter in the home network and also eliminates the need to purchase separate devices.
Additionally, the advanced processing power allows the device to simultaneously support a wide range of d multimedia applications, including HDTV, standard TV, VoIP, WiFi (

For distributing content such as multiple high definition video streams throughout the digital home, the Universal Gateway offers enhanced networking options. In addition, it also supports multimedia over coax alliance (MoCA) and HomePNA3.
The support allows in-home distribution of HDTV and other content over existing coaxial cables to set-top boxes or other video appliances.
“By combining VDSL2/ADSL2+ universal ultra-broadband technology, high-end processing power, and rich home networking connectivity options, the new Universal DSL Gateway enables carriers to deploy next-generation services with ease,” said Brian Henrichs, vice president of business development at Actiontec.
Actiontec develops broadband connectivity and broadband-powered solutions. The company offers IPTV-capable broadband home gateways, DSL modems, wireless networking devices, routers and digital entertainment devices.
Last month, Company introduced next generation
MegaPlug AV Ethernet Adapter, which allows the customers to connect bandwidth-intensive multimedia devices throughout the home.
