Procera Choosing FlexTCA System for DPI Platform
TMCnet Contributing Editor

Continuous Computing today announced that Evolved DPI solutions developer Procera Networks (News - Alert) is choosing its fully-integrated “FlexTCA “system for the company’s recently introduced “PacketLogic PL10000.”

PacketLogic PL10000 is a Deep Packet Inspection platform for service providers. Procera officials said that they selected the FlexTCA system for its advanced packet processing capabilities and to accelerate time-to-market.

The company says it wants the FlexTCA system will help with PacketLogic PL10000’s 80Gbps traffic management and security application, a feature that’s being deployed for the first time this month.

A pre-integrated, Commercial Off-The-Shelf system, FlexTCA helps customers avoid “extra cost, time and resources associated with standard system integration,” according to Continuous Computing’ (News - Alert) officials.

FlexTCA is designed to offer advanced switching and packet processing and provides Procera with the ability to handle complex IP traffic headers at line rate.

Continuous Computing says that the company’s Trillium Professional Services team worked closely with Procera during the development and release phases to qualify, integrate, test, and optimize different configurations in the FlexChassis 5U and 12U ATCA carrier-class shelves, with AC and DC power options for both carrier network and data center deployments.

Mike Dagenais, president and chief executive officer at Continuous Computing, said that Procera’s PacketLogic PL10000 enables advanced traffic management and security capabilities, based on user and service, allowing operators to increase bandwidth, gain visibility, optimize network performance and roll out new revenue-generating services.

He said that by leveraging the fully integrated capabilities of FlexTCA system, plus performance optimization provided by the Trillium Professional Services team, Procera has been able to mitigate risk and optimize its solution while also “introducing the PacketLogic PL10000 to the market months, if not years, earlier than if they had developed the entire system in-house.”

“Continuous Computing’s tightly integrated FlexTCA system enables PacketLogic’s 80Gbps DPI performance - an entirely new level of speed,” said Alexander Haväng, chief technical officer at Procera Networks.

He also said that with Continuous Computing’s FlexTCA systems and the employees’ support and flexibility, the company was able to maximize the performance of Evolved DPI service creation platform and roll out the first customer deployment far faster than the company thought possible.
