Officials from Campbell, California-based Sylantro say the move means its platform will offer voice and Web applications now in a cloud computing environment – an upgrade that’s expected to lower the barrier to launching new IP Communication Services using the company’s applications. That’s because the platform now will save on capital expenditures on servers and data centers while facilitating deployment efforts.
According to Marco Limena, chief executive officer of Sylantro, the new and incumbent IP Communications service providers that form a large part of the company’s base will save not only on hardware but also on associated planning, procurement and deployment cycles.
“By working with Amazon Web Services, Sylantro eliminates one more hurdle towards the rapid deployment of communication services,” Limena said.
Officials at Sylantro say they’re eyeing new opportunities. The cloud-based offering can be utilized by service providers for hosting developer sandboxes, try and buy services, full blown hosted services or as an alternative disaster recovery site.
The company claims that its Synergy platform is a proven carrier-grade feature server platform with more than 95 deployments across key service providers around the world. Its Synapps Web Services layer is designed to provide rich APIs for developing voice applications, and it incorporates simplified billing, provisioning and application tracking capabilities.
Amazon EC2 service provides hosted, resizable compute capacity on a pay-as-you-go basis. This simplifies the Web-scale computing and is of particular help for capital-constrained developers and entrepreneurs seeking to build applications or start up new services. The introduction of telephony into the cloud provides even more options for users.
According to Steve Rabuchin, director of developer relations and business development for Amazon Web Services, his company provides a cost-effective infrastructure to deploy highly scalable and dependable solutions.
“We’re pleased that Sylantro is utilizing Amazon Web Services to extend greater options to their customers,” Rabuchin said.
